Although they have the same protective glasses.
A traditional video has already been released on the MobileReviewsEh YouTube channel, in which the author tests the strength of the display and protective glasses of the new iPhones. This time the standard crash test was delivered iPhone 13.
The strength test consisted of two stages. In the first, the author checked the resistance of the screen to breakage, and in the second, the protection against scratches of the glasses in the front, back and on the camera lenses.
The results were unexpected: although the iPhone 13, like last year's iPhone 12, received Ceramic Shield, this time it protects the smartphone worse. It was possible to damage the screen by applying a force of 377.8 Newtons (and it was possible to break it again at 358 Newtons). This is a result comparable to the iPhone 11 (352 Newtons) - while the iPhone 12 survived 442 Newtons before breaking.
In tests for resistance to scratches, the novelty is not inferior to the iPhone 12: the glass front and back is scratched from materials with a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, while the glass that protects the camera is only scratched by eights.
The difference in display durability can be attributed to the new cameras: they have become larger, so the module protrudes significantly more in the iPhone 13. As a result, the display is easier to break when the smartphone is facing up.
