They will help relieve the roads and reduce the amount of harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
Hyundai and UK startup Urban-Air Port set to launch a network of flying electric taxis in major cities in the UK, USA, France, Germany, Australia, Scandinavia, South Korea and Southeast Asia. The first fully operational urban air port, called Air-One, will open in Coventry in 2022. About it writes Bloomberg.
Over the next five years, they plan to build dozens of infrastructure facilities that will connect 65 cities around the world. They must be adapted for eVTOL aircraft (vertical takeoff and landing aircraft) and unmanned transport drones.
AFC Energy PLC, a hydrogen fuel cell company, is poised to provide vehicles with zero-emission electricity. Maintenance and charging of flying taxis will be carried out directly at the port.
In five years, the companies plan to develop a network of more than 200 flying taxis. Vertical take-off and landing vehicles will deliver passengers to densely populated urban areas districts, commercial and industrial areas, as well as in remote places that are difficult to reach by others means.
According to Urban-Air Port Founder Ricky Sandhu, airports will forever change the way we travel, and relieve the roads of large areas and open up access to the most environmentally friendly and fast way to travel between cities.
