1. Hobbies help keep the brain in good shape
Creative hobbies are a way to strengthen neural connections, make the brain work outside the box, and stay sharp. For example, people who regularly play musical instruments are betterMusical Training Boosts Verbal Memory memorize names, lyrics, movie titles and other verbal information. By the way, drawing, music, theater or dancing can have a positive effect on the work of the brain in the future - to protectBack to school: Learning a new skill can slow cognitive aging for dementia and cognitive aging.
To start creating and benefit from it, it is not at all necessary to immediately enroll in courses or study from childhood. You can master musical notation at any age and independently by opening a tutorial or video tutorials on the Internet.

I started playing in the late 90's on what was at hand, namely the accordion. In those days, there was no Internet, and even books with scores were considered a shortage. I studied using old tutorials. In 2000, he switched to the guitar, played basic 3-4 chords according to notes from the newspapers. Then I tried to repeat the melodies from the notes from the same accordion tutorial. All of this was an interesting challenge and greatly developed my ingenuity.
Over time, I began to write my own arrangements. The guitar was a simple hobby, but every year it becomes more and more my profession. Playing musical instruments gives you unlimited space for growth, and this has a positive effect on my life in general.
2. Provides earning opportunities and can become a profession
The main purpose of a hobby is to entertain and bring pleasure, but it is not necessary to stop there. A cool hobby can grow into a lifelong business and start bringing in a good income. You can make money on a hobby, for example, by talking about it on a blog or selling the final product.
It doesn't matter what kind of occupation it is: crocheting, creating creative make-up, restoring books, traveling, cosplaying or anything else. The main thing is to find what you like and really enjoy. In this case, you do not have to look for additional motivation to develop and monetize this activity.

I am a cheesemaker, and this story began by accident. My husband and I often went out of town to breathe clean air. They also bought homemade milk there. Somehow my husband decided to cook cheese from it - mozzarella with citric acid. It worked the first time!
Then we sold the apartment and moved to the village. There they immediately brought in a goat Belka and began to cook cheeses from their milk. They made Imeretian, Russian, pigtails, caciotta, probiotic cottage cheese, and the results were posted on the blog. This is how we got our first orders: people were interested to know what artisan cheese tasted like.
Now cheese making is the main source of income and a favorite business that we develop and improve: we purchase equipment, work out new tastes and assortments. I love to watch the cheese ripen, I am proud when the heads are smooth and beautiful.
A blog for me is a way to share my experience and tell you how the production is going. About 1,000 people cooked cheese using our videos. Subscribers write thanks for sharing recipes and answering their questions. Sometimes I give individual master classes online, and I plan to create a family school of author's cheese making on the basis of our farm.
3. Helps to make life around you more comfortable
The surroundings are highly influentialHow Does Your Environment Affect Your Mental Health? on our productivity and mood. Lack of light in a room will reduce motivation, and too bright lighting will make you overexcited and restless. The surrounding colors are also important, for example red canColor and psychological functioning: The effect of red on performance attainment negatively affect the result of important work tasks, but have a positive effect on exercise performance.
Creating an enabling environment to build a more harmonious life can easily turn into a hobby. For example, a passion for design. It helps to create a space in which you want to live, work and relax, develops taste and, moreover, can develop into promising work.
Ruslan Kirnichansky
As a child, I assembled a toy house from a designer and realized: my vocation is to build and equip. He began to do his first real projects already in the second year of the university. The experience was unsuccessful: the customers deceived me, they did not pay for my work. But now I have a mountain of interesting works in my portfolio, for example, the creation of a hotel complex and the construction of a mansion in Sardinia.
I'm sure the quality of life needs to be improved, and renovation is the easiest way to do it. A functional home in which everything works properly and at the same time looks stylish is the foundation of a life of pleasure. And thanks to this hobby, I began to understand people better. In the interior, I can even tell about a person that which he himself will not tell.
I started a blog to share my knowledge and prove that the quality of life can be high both in an Italian mansion and in a five-story building in Moscow's Yasenevo. There he launched the program "Repair on the air": he found the most "killed" apartment and turned it into a decent home with an office, a bedroom, a living room-kitchen and a separate laundry room. The whole process was broadcast in Zen. It turned out to be such a tutorial on the correct repair. Now I continue to share useful tips and do similar shows about repairs.
4. Allows you to develop feelings and express yourself in an alternative way
A hobby will help develop feelings that we often do not attach importance to. This is where body practice and mindfulness training come in handy. For example, meditation. She teaches you to direct thoughts in the right direction and helpsDeconstructing the Emotion Regulatory Properties of Mindfulness: An Electrophysiological Investigation deal with negative emotions. By the way, meditation also has various non-standard options. For example, mindful walking: go for a walk in the park, pay attention to the contact of each foot with the ground, listen to the sounds of nature, inhale the scents. All this also allows you to relax and look at the world differently.
You can also start listening to music, mentally laying out the melody on the instruments, thereby developing your ear. Or become a gastronomic expert and taste unusual dishes or traditional cuisines of the world as a hobby.
Another way is to look at the world through scents. The sense of smell is often overlooked, although it is an important way of perceiving the surrounding space. With the help of aromas or their compositions, you can create different sensations: help yourself to concentrate or relax, gain confidence. And if the smells captivate you, you can start creating your own perfumes.
Valeria Nesterova
I dreamed of becoming a perfumer since childhood: I was fascinated by the magic of combining aromas, and I also wanted to create a perfume that would be different from what was being sold at that time. As a result, I received my education as a chemist-technologist of perfumery and cosmetic industries, studied with perfumers from Russia, France, Thailand, and the USA.
The impact of fragrances on people is very interesting. I am constantly applying this knowledge in my life. For example, for business meetings I put perfume with woody-amber accords, and for romantic ones - something light and delicate with fruity and milky notes. Such a functional selection makes it possible to always be in a resource state. Also, a developed sense of smell allows you to deeper enjoy perfumes and treat them like art, read the author's idea.
Now I make money by creating individual fragrances, and I also have my own line of perfumes with the concept of "Perfume wardrobe". There are 17 fragrances in it, divided into four spheres of life: romance and love, business and career, events and parties, for every day and for society. And I also help other novice perfumers to realize themselves in what they love, I teach courses. I decided to start a blog with the same purpose - to share knowledge.
5. This is an opportunity to make the world a better place
An exciting hobby can be beneficial to other people and the planet and give you a sense of belonging to something meaningful. There are many options for such hobbies. You can sign up for volunteers and help homeless animals, the elderly, people with disabilities, organize various socially useful events. Or immerse yourself in gender studies: study the issue in detail and start a blog with educational content.
Another option is to understand the concept of minimalism: to give up things that have been idle for a long time, and donate them to charities. Or start small and go for separate garbage collection. Over time, the echo will likely grow into other nature-friendly habits, such as replacing common items like a plastic bag with safer alternatives.
If you get carried away, you can start producing your own eco-goods, which are now in demand. Or talk about environmental issues and steps you can take to fix them, inspiring people to live more meaningful and greener lives.
Alexey Kiselev
The topic of environmental protection interested me about 30 years ago. I buy everything, if possible, by weight and bottling in my containers, I send for recycling glass, plastic, paper and other things that can be reused. I do not pursue fashion and do not renew my clothes before the old ones are out of order. Reusable masks and homemade antiseptic help to be greener in a pandemic. If I want to take coffee with me, I take it from places where it is poured into my cup. I also do not use packaged shampoos and other similar products: a bar of soap, bought without packaging, solves all problems for a month.
At first, living by the zero waste philosophy was uncomfortable: I thought I looked like a freak. But then there were more like-minded people. I started a blog to show people that they are not alone: there are many of us and there is nothing to be ashamed of here. And, of course, to share what I know and try. When the blog became popular, I started inviting everyone there who needed to talk about environmental issues.
6. Helps you stay fit and better understand your body
Any healthy habit can be turned into a hobby: this will allow you to better understand the body, not to abandon what you started and bring the hobby to results and excellent well-being. So, having understood nutritionology, you will know about the balance of vitamins and microelements and will be able to monitor it. And if you take courses and receive a diploma or certificate, you will be able to help others and make money on it.
Yoga, kickboxing, swimming and any other workouts help to keep the body in good shape and doExercise and stress: Get moving to manage stress happier due to the release of endorphins. Thanks to the passion for healthy lifestyles, you can find new friends and, in general, change your attitude towards life, body and inner world.
Arseny Kim
As a child, I was engaged in different sections: taekwondo, swimming, table tennis, football. But for a long time he did not stay anywhere. But from the age of 15, he spent his free time mostly at parties and had various addictions. At the age of 25, he decided to change everything, seriously began to train and became interested in a healthy lifestyle.
I started a blog to share my experience with others: I managed to change for the better in just a couple of years. The uniqueness of my channel is that I approach the development process holistically, paying attention to three aspects: body, mind and spirit. I combine training, yoga, meditation. This combination allows you to better understand yourself. Blogging is my main activity now. I plan to develop in this area, test new formats, expand the staff of assistants, and reach an English-speaking audience.
