Apple will raise prices for smartphones of the iPhone 13 series

Other manufacturers are likely to be affected as well.
Leading semiconductor maker TSMC announced a rise in the price of chips, as a result of which Apple plans to increase the cost of new iPhone 13 (or iPhone 12s). This is reported in a new report DigiTimes.
According to the publication, the rise in prices for TSMC components will affect many key players in the smartphone market, including Apple. They received a notice that from January 2022 the cost of high-tech components will increase by 20%. At the same time, the first jump in prices is expected even earlier: orders for chips based on the 7nm process technology and below, which are expected to be shipped from December 2021, will cost 3-10% more.
For Apple, which accounts for about 20% of TSMC's sales, the cost of semiconductors will rise by 3-5%. To offset these costs, the company will increase the cost of new flagships. The company will not be the first: in 2021, laptop manufacturers have already increased prices by 5-10% and continue to look for ways to reduce the impact of rising component costs on their profitability.
Apple is preparing a number of significant improvements for the iPhone 13 this year, including function for professional photo and video shooting. According to rumors, the more expensive models of the upcoming line will have support for ProRes for video (including when shooting in portrait mode). Apple could see these features as an excuse for the Pro's price hike.
The date of the presentation of the new iPhones has not yet been officially confirmed, but insiders claim that the online event will take place in September. In the same month should show Apple Watch Series 7 and AirPods 3 - although the headphones are likely to be announced separately a few days after the first presentation.
