Almost half of iPhone users are planning to buy an iPhone 13

But the processor power and camera improvements are of little interest.
As the new shows study American mobile retailer SellCell, nearly half of iPhone owners plan to buy a new model this year, with the standard iPhone 13 being the most popular choice.
Of the 3,000 iPhone users who took part in the survey, 43.7% said they were planning to buy an iPhone 13. For comparison, last year 41% of respondents wanted to buy an iPhone 12.
Those who announced their desire to buy an iPhone 13 were asked to clarify a specific model - provided that in 2021 the same four models await us again: standard, mini, Pro and Pro Max. The most popular was the regular iPhone 13 - it was chosen by 38.2% of respondents. It is closely followed by the iPhone 13 Pro Max (30.2%). A quarter of those who voted (24%) chose the iPhone 13 Pro, and only 7% chose the iPhone 13 mini.
We've previously heard that Apple is going to ditch the 5.4-inch model in 2022, making the iPhone 13 mini the last in the series. And the SellCell data shows that the demand for this version is really modest.
Those wishing to buy a new model were also asked to indicate the main reason for the update. The choice was offered from 12 features and improvements that are expected to appear in the new generation.
The results were distributed as follows:
- Increased display refresh rate (120 Hz) - 22%
- Subscreen Touch ID - 18.2%
- Always on mode - 16%
- Reduced notch, or its absence - 10.9%
- Increased battery capacity - 8.3%
- Increased storage capacity (1TB version) - 8.1%
- Improved camera - 6.6%
- New colors - 4.1%
- More powerful processor (A15) - 2.4%
- Reverse wireless charging - 1.5%
- Faster Wi-Fi 6E - 1.1%
- Rejection of connectors (fully wireless smartphone) - 0.8%
When asked if they want to buy other new Apple products due out this year, only 27% of respondents said they want to buy Apple Watch Series 7, and third-generation AirPods are planning to buy only 13%.
Previous SellCell Research showedthat more than 18% of Americans are not ready to buy an iPhone 13 because they consider the number 13 to be unlucky.
