Miscellaneous / / August 01, 2021
About the dark worlds of Fritz Lang and Jean-Luc Godard, warnings to society from George Miller and the upcoming film adaptation of Zamyatin.
It so happened that utopias are not very much in demand among modern viewers. They are much more interested in science fiction about totalitarian states, the war for resources and class inequality - in general, that everything is bad and will be even worse.
In this episode, the hosts of the Watchmen podcast Alexei Khromov and Mikhail Volnyh discuss dystopias in cinema and tell, with which pictures the development of the genre began, which of the predictions of science fiction writers have already come true, and which are just beginning do it. And they are also trying to find out why people believe in a depressive future more readily than in optimistic and kind fairy tales.
