Android app tests moisture protection

It is completely safe for the device.
Most modern smartphones are protected against dust and moisture, but over time it can become ineffective due to damage or opening of the case. There is an interesting little application on Google Play, Water Resistance Tester, which allows you to test moisture resistance from the inside.
To do this, the program accesses the barometer of the smartphone and reads the readings while the user presses the screen with two fingers. The verdict is issued within a few seconds.
During a series of checks, the Sony Xperia 10 (which does not have an IP rating) failed to deceive the program: each time the application warned about the lack of protection. The Verge journalists spent test on Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, which is IP68 dust and water resistant. The test confirmed the presence of protection, but when the SIM-card tray was removed, a second check showed that the smartphone was not protected (which is quite logical).
The Water Resistance Tester weighs only 2-3 MB and is completely free (although there is a small ad block at the bottom). Of course, the results obtained do not guarantee 100% accuracy, but if the application shows that your smartphone has IP-rating of protection was not found, it is worth contacting the service for verification (or just use it more carefully and avoid contact with moisture).
