7 ways to keep your kitchen countertop tidy

It is not so difficult to achieve cleanliness and tidiness.
On the work surfaces in the kitchen, a real "crowd" of necessary and not so things very quickly gathers. Spice jars and bags, dishwashing sponges, rolls of paper towels, glasses with spatulas and whisks - all these "treasures", if there are too many of them, give the room an untidy look and take up the space necessary for cooking.
Here are some guidelines to help you clean up your countertop and free up more floor space.
1. Remove all unnecessary
Try to take a critical look at the countertop and leave on it only those items that you use regularly and which you are too lazy to reach every time. For everything else, try to find space in the closets.
For example, if you rarely make smoothies or soups-puree, the blender will just collect dust and take up space most of the time. Oven cleaner is also unlikely to be needed every day and will live well on a shelf away from children and animals. And the paddles, whisks and ladles will fit perfectly in the drawer.
2. Divide your work surface into zones
And keep in each of them your own group of items. For example, on the part of the countertop that is closer to the dining table, it is convenient to put a bowl of fruit, a decanter of water, a salt shaker and a pepper shaker. And near the hob it is good to keep a set of spices in neat jars, oven mitts and towels. It is logical to leave sponges and detergent next to the sink. washing dishes.
With this approach, each thing will have its own clearly defined place and objects will not "migrate" around the kitchen, creating chaos.
3. Use trays
When you distribute the items to different zones of the countertop, place the entire group on a small tray, alternatively, fold it into a cute container with low walls or an open basket. Then things will not "creep" over the entire surface and will look neat. In addition, in this form, jars of spices or sponges and rags are much easier and faster to move to wipe the countertop.
In addition to trays and containers, ordinary or multi-tiered cake stands are also suitable for this purpose - they will perfectly relieve the work surface.
4. Take a closer look at the wall mounts
Rods, hooks, rails, magnetic holders and hanging baskets will take care of cups, cooks, oven mitts and towels, knives, sponges and all those little things that for some reason you do not want or cannot put away in cabinets.
If the boxes are packed to the eyeballs, and hang kitchen you don't like the utensils on the walls, pay attention to the inner side of the doors. You can screw the same hooks or a small barbell there and place on them, for example, rags or shoulder blades.
5. Choose closed banks
If you want to keep cereals, sugar, spices, cereals and muesli on the countertop, it is better to pour them into identical jars with lids. This option looks much nicer and neater than motley packs and boxes. In addition, less small debris and crumbs will remain on the surface.
6. Get a container for small items
Coins, checks, toy parts, rubber bands, lids, bags of sauce, toothpicks - every time putting them back in place is terribly lazy. As a result, they accumulate in disarray on surfaces and in boxes.
You can calm this chaos by placing a small open container or bowl somewhere in the corner, where you will put all the small things. As soon as the container is full, take 15–20 minutes to discard all unnecessary items, and arrange everything you need properly.
7. Put the trash can
It is convenient to put in it what is definitely going to be thrown away, for example, tea bags, peels from peeled carrots, pieces of paper, stubs and seeds. At the end of the day, all that remains is to pour the contents from the small into a large bucket and rinse the empty container.
So small debris will not accumulate on the countertop and you will not have to reach for the main bucket every time to throw out the apple stalk or empty coffee capsule.
