6 reasons why you don't need a glass smartphone
Miscellaneous / / July 31, 2021
A beautiful but expensive toy that has more problems than benefits.
People love glass smartphones for their looks and iridescent patterns on the lids. In addition, such devices have a body that transmits Wi-Fi, LTE and Bluetooth signals well and, unlike metal gadgets, supports wireless charging. But in fact, the glass body is more of a disadvantage than an advantage. It won't look premium for long. And that's why.
1. Glass smartphone is very easy to break
If you are one of those people who constantly drop their smartphones, then it is better to stay away from glass cases. Did a metal or plastic phone fall? Well, if the screen survived, then nothing terrible happened. Have you dropped the glass? A web of cracks irrevocably disfigures a beautiful back panel.
You can, of course, put on some kind of shockproof gadget case or an overlay. But is it worth buying an expensive device with a stylish glass cover to hide in a case later? In general, the owners of such smartphones should be very careful, especially since the following point aggravates the situation.

2. And the glass body is very slippery.
Holding a device with a polished glass body with one hand, especially if your palm is damp, is not an easy task. The glass easily slips out of your fingers.
It is also heavier than plastic or ceramic, but more fragile.
You will have to constantly use both hands: hold one, press the other screen. Or again to clothe the smartphone in an ergonomic, but spoiling its appearance case.
3. Glass scratches easily
Even if you are extremely careful and never drop your glass phone, it will still lose its "presentation" faster than devices with a metal case. After all, this material loves to scratch.
Do you have a coin, or a key, or just a grain of sand in the same pocket as your smartphone? Another scratch forms on the glass panel - and it's good if it's not noticeable. As a result, all these effects of "wet body" and "illusion of depth" will disappear, and the expensive device will start to look sloppy and simply wretched.
Of course, with severe bad luck, you can scratch anything you want. But with a metal or plastic case, the risk is much less.

4. This phone collects fingerprints.
Fingerprints on glass smartphones are a disaster. Even if you wash your hands regularly and do not suffer from excessive sweating, the back cover of the gadget is surely covered with stains and marks, despite all sorts of oleophobic coatings.
All that remains is either to put on a case on the smartphone (why then even a glass cover), or to carry a microfiber cloth with you and wipe it regularly. Well, or learn not to pay attention to fingerprints.

5. Cooling in a glass case is worse
Glass does not have as good thermal conductivity as metal. On the one hand, thanks to this, the glass smartphone stays cool in the hands for longer. But the filling is cooled much worse than in the aluminum case, which itself serves as a radiator.
With heavy use of the gadget, there will be performance issues. If you like to play mobile games with sophisticated graphics, then overheating, throttling and FPS drops are inevitable. In addition, difficulties with heat transfer lead to rapid battery wear.

6. Glass smartphones are unreasonably expensive
On average, smartphones with a glass body are more expensive than metal, ceramic, and even more so plastic. Especially considering that flagships like to equip with such backdrops.
Therefore, if you scratch and drop your device, repairs will cost you a pretty penny.
Conventional smartphones are vulnerable on the side of the screen, while glass ones are vulnerable on both sides. That is, the risk of damaging the gadget doubles.
Considering how many problems the glass back gives us, offering only a beautiful design in return, the question arises: is it worth it? Write in the comments what you think about it.
