Apple announced major update to their music service. In particular, users of AirPods and Beats with the H1 or W1 chip, as well as new iPhones, iPads and Macs will be able to listen to music in Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio - this feature is already used by in AirPods Pro for some services, including YouTube.
At the start, this mode will be available for several thousand songs, they will be marked with a special icon. The number of compatible tracks will gradually increase, and Apple has also announced curated playlists of songs in a new format.
Starting in June, the service will be able to listen to more than 75 million songs in high quality without compression (Lossless). For this, a special ALAC codec will be used, which will help to convey all the shades of the sound of the original audio file. Thanks to this, users will be able to listen to their favorite songs exactly as their authors intended. Several modes will be available - from 16 bit @ 44.1 kHz to 24 bit @ 192 Hz for audiophiles.
Both new features will be available to all subscribers at no additional cost.
