Miniature without compromise.
ASUS has officially revealed the new flagship smartphones ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip. And if the second is the direct heir to last year's ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro, then the usual "eight" is an unexpected return to a more classic and practical design without turning elements.
ZenFone 8 Flip
The smartphone is equipped with a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. There are no holes or notches in it, but a fingerprint scanner is built into it.
Responsible for performance is the top-end Snapdragon 888 processor with 5G support, supplemented by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. MicroSD cards up to 2TB will help add space.
A special emphasis was placed on the camera during the presentation. It is 3-modular: the main sensor is 64 megapixels, the ultra-wide-angle 12 megapixels and the telephoto 8 megapixels with 3x optical zoom. For selfies, the camera automatically pops up to face you. The angle of its inclination can be changed, there is also a mode of automatic panoramas: it is enough to keep the smartphone level, and the module will automatically rotate, collecting all the necessary angles, after which the AI will collect them into one image. The mechanism can withstand up to 300 thousand turns - this is enough for 8 years of operation if you turn the camera over 100 times daily.
The smartphone is protected from moisture and dust according to the IP68 standard. 5000mAh battery supports 30W fast charging, matching adapter included.
The smartphone will be available in galactic black and galactic silver colors for 799 euros (≈71,920 rubles) for the only modification with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory.
ZenFone 8
This model received a more compact 5.9-inch AMOLED display with the same resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels (so the dot density is even higher here) and the refresh rate of Gorilla Glass Victus. Gorilla Glass Victus protection is also present. A small hole in the upper left corner of the screen houses a 12MP selfie camera from Sony. The back surface is covered with frosted glass, which collects fewer fingerprints than glossy glass.
It uses the same Snapdragon 888 processor as in the older model, 8 GB RAM, built-in 128 or 256 GB. Support for microSD is also preserved here. The camera consists of two modules: the main one with 64 megapixels and the wide-angle one with 12 megapixels with support for Dual Pixel focusing.
Waterproof IP68 is also present in this model. The battery with a more modest capacity of 4,000 mAh supports fast wired charging with a capacity of up to 30 W, the adapter is included.
The smartphone will be available in two colors: obsidian black and horizon silver. There will be four memory configurations: 6/128, 8/128, 8/256 and 16/256 GB. The cost is announced only for the basic version: it is 599 euros, or approximately 53,920 rubles. Expect both new items on sale in the near future.
