Sales of electronic (digital) books still lag behind paper sales worldwide, according to new research by Statista Advertising & Media Outlook. This became especially noticeable during the COVID-19 pandemic. writes Gizmodo.
The study found that in the United States, where e-books are usually very popular, only 22.7% of the population bought them. 44.5% preferred paper books, which is almost twice as many.
An interesting situation is observed in China, where the volume of sales of e-books may soon equal the volume of paper books. The first option in 2020 was preferred by 24.4% of residents, and this is the highest indicator, and the second - 32%.
Residents of European countries also prefer paper. For example, in Germany such books were purchased by 58% of people, and electronic - only 10.4%. A similar ratio in France: 52.1% and 7.5%, respectively.
