Samsung officially announced on the release in Russia of the Health Monitor application for maintaining health and wellness. With it, watch users Galaxy Watch3 and Galaxy Watch Active2 will be able to measure their blood pressure and take an electrocardiogram (ECG).
Samsung notes that high blood pressure is often associated with diseases of the brain, kidney and heart, and if left untreated, it can lead to stroke and coronary heart disease. Measuring blood pressure with Samsung Health Monitor will provide a deeper insight into your health and help you make more informed decisions.
To use the BP function, you first need to calibrate your Galaxy Watch3 or Galaxy Watch Active2 using a traditional blood pressure monitor. After that, when measuring, the device will more accurately determine the pressure based on the pulse wave data, which are read by the pulse sensors.
The electrocardiogram monitoring function, in turn, works by analyzing the electrical activity of the heart using an ECG sensor. To use it, you will need to hold your fingertip without a watch on the top button of the device for 30 seconds. So the app will measure your heart rate and rhythm, which will be classified as sinus rhythm (normal, regular heartbeat) or atrial fibrillation (heart beats irregularly).
The manufacturer recalls that these functions help to obtain indicative health data that are for informational purposes only and cannot be used for medical research, diagnosis and treatment.
