How to subscribe to Apple podcasts on iOS 14.5
Miscellaneous / / April 28, 2021
Detailed navigation through Apple's new Podcast design.
Together with iOS 14.5 release the Podcasts app has also been updated on the iPhone. The main changes are new beautiful covers for podcasts and individual episodes, a new recommendation system and a universal button, the content of which changes in depending on user interactions with a particular podcast: you can listen to the latest episode, re-listen from the beginning, or continue playing earlier the episode started.
And although visually everything has become more attractive, for users accustomed to the old design, not everything can be obvious and understandable. This is where you need to look for familiar functions now.
How to subscribe to a podcast
To subscribe to a podcast, find something through the search or follow the direct link and click on the icon "+" In the upper right part of the screen, or click on "..." and select the option from the context menu Subscribe.
Accordingly, to unsubscribe, click on the checkmark in the upper right part of the page (it replaces the “+” after subscribing) or open the context menu via “…” and select “Unsubscribe”.
How to download individual episodes
If you want to download one or more episodes, you can do this through the main page of the podcast: click on the "..." icon next to the episode description and select "Download episode".
To download a recently listened episode or a new episode of a podcast you are subscribed to, find it on the "Listen" screen, hold down the plate until the context menu appears and select "Load release".
How to enable automatic download of new releases
Everything here is simple, but not entirely obvious. Open the podcast home page and click on the checkmark icon that appears after you subscribe to a channel. Contrary to logic, this does not cancel the subscription, but provides a context menu in which you can enable or disable the autoloading of new episodes.
How to rate a podcast
Nothing has changed here: just scroll through the blocks with descriptions and recent episodes on the page of the desired podcast to see the section with reviews, as well as the ability to quickly rate in asterisks or write a review yourself.
