Apple released iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5. What's new?

Masked iPhone unlocking with Apple Watch, new Siri features, no tracking, and more.
After a beta testing cycle that lasted nearly three months, iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 are finally available to iPhone and iPad users. You can update your devices by going to Settings and selecting General and then Software Update.
What's New in iOS 14.5:
- Added the ability unlocking iPhone with Face ID using an Apple Watch Series 3 or later if face recognition fails due to face shield.
- Added the option "tracking requests by applications", with which when the first launch of a program, the user will see a notification about the need to grant permission to track actions in other applications or websites. These actions can be disabled.
- Added over 200 new emoji from the Emoji 13.1 spec, which was certified back in 2020. These include many variations of couples with a heart, a woman with a beard and a heart on fire.
- Siri learned how to start group FaceTime calls, choose the default music service, announce incoming calls, and tell the contact's name during a call when using AirPods. In addition, the assistant will no longer use the default female voice - two additional voice options will be offered to choose from.
- The built-in Locator application has received beacon support AirTag to search for personal belongings.
- The "Reminders" application now has the ability to sort records by title, priority, due date or creation date, as well as the function of printing reminder lists.
- Podcasts app got updated interface and separate pages for each podcast, as well as categories, charts and recommendations in the search tab.
- New information on the price and duration of the free subscription period has been added to the in-app purchase window.
- Smartphones series iPhone 12 received 5G support in the mode of using two SIM cards at the same time, which is not yet relevant for Russia.
Apple also announced the elimination of a number of unpleasant bugs, including the display of deleted messages in Spotlight search, message overlapping On-screen keyboard, downloading emails, showing iCloud in Safari, and duplicating auto-switch notification AirPods.
In addition to all of the above, iPadOS 14.5 adds support for a horizontal power-on screen and automatic mute for microphones when the Smart Folio is closed.
