"Discover Russia": a new project from Google about the culinary traditions of our country
Miscellaneous / / April 20, 2021
An online encyclopedia highlighting the uniqueness and diversity of the cuisine of Russian regions.
Google and the Federal Tourism Agency launched on Google Arts & Culture, an international platform about the culinary traditions of Russia. The project, called "Raskusi Russia", will allow you to get acquainted with the regional cuisines of the country, its gastronomic history and trends in modern restaurant culture.
The encyclopedia has united 65 expositions, 36 video materials and more than 1000 images about gastronomy and food culture in Russia. For example, one of the expositions tells about dough dishes: the “queen of Russian pastry” kulebyake, Ossetian pies, gingerbread and other gastronomic sights.
"Discover Russia" will allow you to get acquainted with the cuisine of Central Russia, Siberia, the Urals, the South, the Volga region, the North Caucasus and even the Arctic Circle. Users will be able to learn about the production of wine and Adyghe cheese in the south, Siberian dumplings, Ossetian pies in the Caucasus, Kamchatka crabs, Volga hot mustard and other regional delicacies.
In total, more than 20 regions have shared images and videos with Google Arts & Culture that demonstrate the gastronomic uniqueness and diversity of Russian cuisine. The project was supported by Mosfilm, the Tretyakov Gallery and the Russian Museum.
You can get acquainted with all the materials for free on the website artsandculture.google.com and via the Google Arts & Culture mobile app for iOS and Android.
