What happens when you block contacts on iPhone

Have you ever wondered that actually happens when you block someone on iPhone? Knowing these signs will also help you recognize that someone has blacklisted you.

You can prevent a specific user from interacting with you through the Messages or Phone / FaceTime applications. The result is the same: the contact is blocked in all three applications simultaneously. However, this will not stop the person from trying to contact you. And he will not hear the message "Your number has been blocked" - he will only wonder why you ignore his messages and calls.

Blocking via "Messages"

Open a chat with the desired user, click on his name or number at the top of the screen and click on the ⓘ icon to open the contact. Press the name or number again and scroll down to Block Caller. Done!

When the blocked subscriber tries to write to you, on iOS he will not see the "Delivered" statute, but the bubble messages can change color from blue to green (this means that instead of iMessage, the usual SMS). You will not see this message.

Messages also has a function to group SMS and iMessage from strangers. To do this, open "Messages" → "Filter by sender" in the settings. After that, such messages will appear in a separate tab, and you will not receive notifications about them. Although most companies and stores are detected automatically, this function has a certain inconvenience: you may miss the message from the courier or small shop where you made order.

Blocking via "Phone" / FaceTime

Here the principle is the same: open the application, find the call from the contact and click on the ⓘ icon next to it. Scroll down and select Block Caller.

To view your blocked list, open Messages, Phone, or FaceTime in Settings. In the "Blocked Contacts" section, you will see a list of everyone who has ever been blocked - and you will be able to pull a contact from the blacklist if you want.

The smartphone will immediately transfer calls from blocked users to an answering machine. You will see a new Blocked folder in the autoresponder section. You won't get notifications for new recordings, so the only way is to manually check your voicemail.
