1. Read the documentation to ensure that your warranty remains valid
Warranty stickers are often found on electronics cases. They can be found on game consoles, TVs, laptops, and computer accessories. According to lawLaw of the Russian Federation of 07.02.1992 N 2300-1 (ed. from 24.04.2020) "On protection of consumer rights" on the protection of consumer rights, companies cannot void the warranty for a torn sticker, but some still refuseIs it possible to demand warranty repair of a laptop with a broken seal? in warranty service.
In addition, manufacturers often glue seals to protect devices from being opened. They are usually placed on top of the bolts. Damage to these seals will almost certainly void the warranty. Fortunately, most often this is directly stated on the seals themselves.
As for the stickers with information about the product, no one forbids removing them, but it is better to play it safe and familiarize yourself with the terms of warranty service.
2. Remember to turn off the power
Many neglect this rule, but in vain. Removing stickers may require conductive chemical solutions. If they get inside a connected device, it can lead to oxidation or even a short circuit.
3. If the sticker is fresh, try to do without chemicals
Usually, factory stickers are easily peeled off without the intervention of chemicals - it is enough to pry the sticker around the corner to tear it off. Remaining glue can be removed with a paper towel.
4. Gently melt the glue with a hair dryer
There are often tips on the Internet to heat up stickers hairdryerto make them easier to remove. However, this could damage the electronic components underneath, especially capacitors.
So you need to use the hair dryer carefully, keeping it at a distance of at least 20 cm from the device and checking temperature to the touch: the case should not be hot enough to be hard on it touch.
5. Don't delay removing sticky marks
If the sticker leaves behind glue stains, it is best to remove them immediately, before they begin to collect dust and dirt. This unpleasant mixture will dry quickly in the open air and harden, making further removal difficult.
6. Use the tools at hand
A bank card, a guitar pick, or a special plastic blade can be useful to remove any glue residue. They are hard enough to wipe off dried glue, but will not damage the metal case.
However, here, too, you should not overdo it, especially if the device is made of plastic or metal with colored spraying.
7. Remove old labels with soap, rubbing alcohol or vinegar
Sometimes it is not possible to get rid of labels by simple physical impact. In this case, all kinds of solvents will help. To get started, go over the stickers with a cloth soaked in soapy water. If that's not enough, try a vinegar or alcohol solution. At the end of the procedure, wipe the gadget with a dry cloth.
Do not use concentrated vinegar, 100% alcohol or acetone for such purposes: they can damage the case, and their vapors can get into the device and damage it. Moreover, there is a risk of inhalation poisoning when using acetone and vinegar in a confined space.
