1. A story about a granny that each of us sometimes needs
Tonya Rubtsova
Author.
I was driving somehow in a minibus, opposite me with his back to the driver sat a strange half-drunk guy, and next to him was a granny, but they were not together, just fellow travelers. This guy, of course, was asked to hand over the fare, but he suddenly freaked out and started yelling: “Deal with your problems yourself! You are all villains! I don't owe you anything! Pass the fare yourself, get away from me! "
He was furious, and then he began to sob - loudly and with sobs. This granny next to him took his hand and began stroking and saying: "Well, well, it will be for you, you're just tired, everything will work out." The guy continued to shout that no one had ever loved him just like that, everyone just wanted something from him, and the grandmother continued to monotonously and calmly pity him and console him. As a result, he calmed down, put his hand on his grandmother, and they sat like this. I went out and I don't know how it all ended, but it was touching.
2. The story that there are no hopeless situations
Asya Ploshkina
Author.
Several years ago my husband and I went to the Kaliningrad region. Of course, we went to the beautiful Curonian Spit: to look at the dancing trees, sand dunes and forest hogs. We got there by bus, walked all day, took pictures, climbed to the observation deck. When we gathered back to the hotel, we realized with horror that the buses were no longer running. Communication is poor, you can't call a taxi. We are trying to catch a ride. There is one road through the Curonian Spit, along which mainly people travel to Europe or back, and apparently no one wants to pick up passengers.
We waited for over an hour - tired, hungry, bitten by mosquitoes, but no one stopped. The sun has almost set, we were already preparing to walk - it is a couple of tens of kilometers, for tired travelers it is difficult. And finally - lo and behold! - brakes a car with European numbers. Behind the wheel is a pleasant and excellent Russian-speaking grandfather, who was traveling from Lithuania to visit his brother in Kaliningrad. Without hesitation, he put us in the car, entertained us with conversations, and even made a small detour to get to the hotel. I didn't take a penny, although we insisted very much. I still remember this episode with warmth and gratitude.
3. A story about trust that is more valuable than money
Oksana Dyachenko
Special projects editor.
When it was still possible, I often used St. Petersburg as a window to Europe and went for a day to Estonia or Finland. Last winter I returned from Estonia at night, and early in the morning I had to go to Pulkovo airport. In the meantime, I planned to sleep at the hotel. I called a taxi, and at the end of the trip it turned out that the driver had no change - about 700 rubles.
Then, for some reason, I didn’t tie the card to my account, and the situation didn’t dispose to seek an exchange. We agreed that the driver would arrive at the hotel by five in the morning and take me to the airport. And he didn't deceive! Two trips for 1,000 rubles is quite a normal price. On the way, however, he asked in surprise: "Do you always trust people like that?"
I also have a cat, with which I sometimes need to go to the veterinary clinic. If you take an animal in a taxi, even in a cage, you often have to pay extra. With the cost of the trip itself, this is every time plus 500 rubles to all manipulations. Once I was bringing a cat from the vet, and the taxi driver said that he would take money only for the trip - there was no need to pay for the animal. It turns out that he often helps shelters and cannot take money from cats.

4. The story that resourcefulness is more important than running fast
Alexey Ponomar
Publisher.
In 2011, I came to Kiev to see the city and meet different people. After one of the meetings, an acquaintance called a taxi by phone late at night, and I got into the car. They arrived, got out, the taxi started, and I immediately realized that the phone had fallen out of my pocket in the cabin.
While coping with a panic attack, the car accelerated, I did not have time to catch up with it. As a result, I ran to the nearest round-the-clock stall, called an acquaintance whom I had met, and he called the taxi driver. The latter responded 15 minutes later, found a phone under the chair, returned and gave it back.
5. The story of a trip to the library that helped find a new friend
Polina Nakrainikova
Chief Editor.
You never know how you will find true friends. In the first year of philology, we were sent to the library for books. I expected to see the usual stack of textbooks, like in school, but a giant mountain of literature was waiting for me. It was unrealistic to drag her alone, and while the prudent classmates were burdening the fathers and brothers, I frantically called someone who would come to my aid.
As luck would have it, everyone was busy: dad was working, the guy was in class, and his best friend fell down with a cold. Through a cough, he said that he himself would not be able to help, but perhaps his classmate would solve the book problem - we studied together for two years in parallel, but did not communicate at all. To be honest, it seemed to me that we had nothing to talk about at all.
I didn’t want to disturb a completely stranger, but the books were still a "non-lifting" load, and I made up my mind. Suddenly, that guy was not all the same: he really dropped everything and came to my aid. While an acquaintance was carrying books, we got to talking. It turned out that he was very interesting and well-read: for two years in one school, I did not see either a cool sense of humor or a lively mind. Then we chatted for a long time at my house.
I really regret that I judged people by some trifles: with that guy we still communicate well. And I am very grateful to him: for the fact that one day he came to help a person whom he did not really know, and for the fact that he changed my ideas about friendship.
6. A story with horror elements about the dangers of night walks
Iya Zorina
Author.
Once my friend and I were walking out of the forest at night. I saw a black hole ahead, I thought: "Oh, class, asphalt!" Then a wall flashed, I was like: "Yeah, not asphalt." It turned out that these were some kind of communications - we fell into a stone ditch with walls three meters high.
The friend broke his hip and could not walk, although he tried at first. I was lucky: I just twisted and cut my leg. From the ditch we were taken out by the emchees and taken to the hospital. They left my friend for treatment, and they took a picture of me, wrapped the cut with a bandage and said that everything was in order, I could go.
It was five in the morning, the phone sat down, about 25 rubles in change in my fist. I walked very badly, practically jumped on one leg, and it was about 5 kilometers to my home. I got to the stop and decided to wait for the minibuses to start running. A taxi stopped, the driver asked where I was and drove me home. I offered him my 25 rubles, but he didn't take it. It was very nice and very helpful.
7. The story of a broken finger that restored faith in humanity
Olga
Illustrator.
About a month and a half ago, I broke my toe. I called a taxi from the hospital and asked to call on the way home to the pharmacy - they needed crutches. It was very painful to walk, I limped from the car to the pharmacy, but it turned out that there were no crutches there. In the meantime, the application threw the next client to the taxi driver, but he drove with me to another pharmacy, quickly ran to fetch these crutches himself, and then took me home and brought me to the apartment.
Another taxi driver literally brought me to the door - there was ice, and I could not walk on crutches. In general, then all the drivers helped me: they opened the doors, sat down and helped me out, carried packages. I directly believed in humanity.
8. The story of the compassionate taxi driver and the friendliness of the highlanders
Yulia Zotova
Project Manager.
Once we were driving from Gudauri to Vladikavkaz. The driver was leaving Tbilisi, and he picked us up on the way - it was such a taxi, where people sit, so that it was cheaper and more fun to travel. Besides us, there was a citizen of Azerbaijan in the car. Before going to the airport, where we just needed, the taxi driver stopped on the way at a house. The Azerbaijani jumped out and ran for the money. It turned out that the driver picked him up in Tbilisi, he had no money at all, and the kind taxi driver drove him to Vladikavkaz, believing that upon arrival the passenger would pay for everything.
Later, when we went longer without this fellow traveler, the taxi driver told us: "Well, I couldn't leave him." This, of course, is the local mentality, they are all brothers there and are very fond of helping, but it was nice. All of us on the way were fed with Georgian bread for free.
