First impressions of OPPO Find X2 - a flagship smartphone from China
Devices Android / / January 05, 2021
Design
It would seem that Find X2 looks exactly the same as other smartphones: glass body, rounded corners, an elongated block with cameras and a front camera in the screen. However, OPPO has paid attention to the little things, thanks to which the sore design looks quite fresh. There is a textured backing under the rear glass, logos and cameras are in line, the oval holes of the multimedia speaker and the SIM-tray are harmoniously adjacent to the USB-C connector.
Smartphone produced in black and "sea" colors, we are testing the second version. It looks awesome, but it gets covered with prints in the first seconds of use. Curved edges also raise doubts: due to the small area of contact with the palm, the case strives to slip out. It's good that a silicone case was added to the kit.
The novelty cannot be called compact, but the narrow body with rounded corners hides it well. Nevertheless, only those with large palms will be able to use the smartphone with one hand.

Screen
Almost the entire front panel is occupied by an AMOLED display with a diagonal of 6.7 inches. Its key features are QHD + resolution and 120 hertz refresh rate. Unlike Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, here you don't have to choose one thing, but it remains to be seen how this will affect battery life.
The display in OPPO Find X2 is even brighter than the latest Samsung smartphones. The picture is adjusted in a wide range: you can choose one of three color profiles and tweak the white balance. DisplayMate awarded the smartphone screen with the highest A + rating, and on a cursory acquaintance with it, it's hard to disagree. However, it is worth postponing conclusions until a full review.
Sound
The novelty has received stereo speakers with support for Dolby Atmos. The volume margin is excellent, but at high values the sound suffers from overload. Overall, the speaker quality is lower than in the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.
OPPO has relied on high-quality recording this time audio and equipped the Find X2 with three microphones. With their help, you can focus on the sound source and suppress background noise. How it works, we will check during long-term testing.
Cameras
OPPO Find X2 received a set of three cameras: standard, wide-angle and telephoto with 2x optical zoom (and hybrid up to 5X). The main module is built on the basis of a Sony IMX586 sensor with a resolution of 48 megapixels. We saw such characteristics a year ago in relatively inexpensive devices, so it's strange to find them in a new product for 73 thousand rubles.
However, the overall implementation is more important. It's too early to judge the photographic potential of a smartphone, but here's what the pictures from all three look like cameras:
Other features
Find X2 hardware platform - eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. This is the most productive mobile chipset today, so there should be no problems with games. The interface just “flies”, which is not surprising with 12 GB of RAM. The novelty is running Android 10 with a proprietary shell ColorOS 7.1.
Two batteries are responsible for power at once, the capacity of each is 2,100 mAh. That is, in total we have 4 200 mAh, which is less than the Galaxy S20 Ultra or Xiaomi Mi 10. But the device supports fast charging at 65 W and gains 90% in half an hour.
Subtotals
On first impressions, OPPO Find X2 is a quality smartphone that lacks personality. At a cost of 73 thousand rubles, this becomes a problem, although our opinion about the new product may still change. In the meantime, it remains to be regretted that OPPO did not bring the Find X2 Pro model to Russia, which got all the interesting chips: an eco-leather back and a new camera system with periscopic zoom.
Buy
The author thanks the company OPPO for the device provided for testing. The company had no way to influence the test result.
