Previously went rumors that the iPhone 12 Pro will be the first Apple smartphone with a 120Hz display, but later this information denied. Now well-known leak finder John Prosser has published proof that the top iPhones will still get this feature.
In particular, he posted a screenshot of the settings for a test build of iOS 14 that emulates work on the iPhone 12 Pro. It shows a slider for enabling the adaptive screen frequency with the description "When this function is enabled, the device will change the refresh rate from 120 to 60 Hz, depending on the displayed content."
Since iOS has completely separated from iPadOS, and new iPad Pro - the only Apple mobile devices with support for 120 Hz, we are definitely talking about new smartphones. However, it is worth remembering that this is not the final assembly, and this function could have been tested even before they decided to abandon 120 Hz.
Also Prosser notedthat the notch for the front camera and sensors for Face ID will remain the same as in the previous generation, but the frames around the display will become even thinner, and the display itself will be slightly larger, so that visually "bangs" will look less. In addition, he said that Face ID will get a wider viewing angle and will work even if you lean over the table on which the smartphone is lying. But the main camera module will be 10% larger.
It is not yet known when Apple will introduce the iPhone 12. It can happen 10 September (but the company has only a day left to send the press invitations to the presentation) or in October, as recently spoke still the same Prosser. Regardless of the date of the announcement, the arrival of new products on sale should not be expected earlier than October.
