Asus has officially unveiled the Zenfone 7 and Zenfone 7 Pro smartphones. As in previous generation, the main feature here is the camera. At the push of a button, the triple module slides out of the back and rotates 180 ° for selfies or vlogs.
In both versions, the resolution of the main camera was 64 megapixels, there is also a 12 megapixel ultra-wide lens (viewing angle 113 °) and an 8 megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Optical stabilization of additional modules is available only in the Pro version.
Asus also improved the swivel mechanism - while the Zenfone 6 could survive 100,000 swings, the Zenfone 7 doubled that number. According to the manufacturer, if you switch the camera 100 times every day, the module will live for 5 years. In this case, the camera does not have to be rotated 180 ° - you can adjust the desired angle depending on the shooting conditions.
Otherwise, these are the usual flagships of 2020. Both got 6.67-inch OLED displays with a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a maximum brightness of 700 nits - although the resolution remained at Full HD. Both support 5G (though without mmWave).
Internally, these models are slightly different. The top 7 Pro received a Snapdragon 865 processor, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory. Zenfone 7 is equipped with the same processor, but only 128 GB of internal memory - and the amount of RAM is 6 or 8 GB, depending on the configuration. Both models have support for micro SD up to 2 TB.
Out of the box, smartphones run on Android 10 with ZenUI 7 shell. The massive 5,000 mAh battery supports 30W fast charging via USB-C, but you won't be able to feed your smartphone wirelessly.
The fingerprint scanner is built into the side power key. It is multitasking: you can assign actions to double-click and hold a key yourself. Unlike the Zenfone 6, the new Zenfone 7 lacks a headphone jack - as well as an IP rating (the fancy camera has its drawbacks).
