With each new update, the Apple Pencil is becoming a more useful accessory, not just a load of iPad. The next major update, iPadOS 14, adds even more cool gestures and stylus capabilities. Here's what they paid attention to authors iDownloadBlog after iPad Pro test with new iPadOS and stylus.
1. New possibilities for working with text
The stylus is now especially useful for those who write and edit text on the iPad - it doesn't matter in Notes, Pages or Google Docs. Here are just a few new gestures:
- Circle a word to highlight it.
- Cross out words or letters to remove them.
- Touch and hold the stylus anywhere to "move apart" words and write something else in the resulting gap.
- Vertical striking between words removes the space, allowing you to connect words. Likewise, a flourish in the middle of a word separates letters with a space at that location.
2. Translation of handwritten text into print
In "Notes", in addition to the standard drawing tools, there is a new pen with the letter "A" on it. This is a special tool with which you can write text by hand and it will automatically turn into typed text.
3. Simple shapes converter
Now it is enough to quickly draw a simple shape (for example, a triangle, square or an asterisk), and the system will automatically turn this drawing into an even drawing. To convert, just hold the stylus in place for a couple of seconds when you've finished drawing. This also works with straight lines, allowing you to draw tables and graphs quickly and accurately.
4. Handwriting input for tablet control
Now you can forget about the keyboard (physical or on-screen) when you work with Apple Pencil. Anywhere in the system, you can use handwriting to open the setting you want or search for something on the Internet. This works in the browser too.
These are the main innovations in iPadOS 14. But don't forget about a number of other cool features already available to Apple Pencil owners.
5. Touch button setting
The second generation Apple Pencil introduces a touch button: to activate it, you just need to double-tap it. The action can be assigned in the settings: for example, you can switch to the eraser, go to the last used tool, or open the color picker.
6. Quick access to Notes
It is enough to touch with the stylus the turned off display or the lock screen to start creating a new note.
7. Gesture screenshot
Swipe the stylus from the corner of the screen to the center to take a screenshot. A window will open in which you can immediately edit it, send it to someone or delete it.
