On May 19, the Build 2020 conference began, which is taking place online for the first time this year. As part of Day One, Microsoft revealed a host of new developer tools and a few more tangible announcements. We will tell you about the latter.
New launcher PowerToys Run
For Windows 10 released a special PowerToys Run application that replaces the familiar "Run" menu called by the Win + R command. This tool is now similar to Spotlight in macOS - it offers the ability to quickly find the tools, files and active processes you need.
PowerToys Run is planned to be developed in conjunction with open-source developers who will release various plugins to extend the tool's capabilities.
Along with this, Microsoft demonstrated the Keyboard Manager PowerToy, a tool that allows remap keys on the keyboard that will be active while Keyboard Manager and PowerToys are work in the background.
Updates to Microsoft Edge
The proprietary Edge browser has a new search option in the sidebar that allows you to search for information on the Internet without leaving the active tab. All you have to do is select the text on the page, right-click and select "search in sidebar".
Integration with Pinterest has also appeared: at the bottom of the Collections panel, users will be offered collections from the service based on search queries. Going forward, Microsoft plans to add the ability to send assignments to OneNote.
Another innovation in the browser is the ability to separate personal and corporate accounts. This will allow you to open links and synchronize data with reference to a specific profile, without confusing work and personal life.
Microsoft Lists app
Microsoft Lists will be released as part of Microsoft 365 this summer. It is intended for creating lists of tasks and workflows. According to the developers, this tool can significantly simplify many routine tasks and facilitate communication with colleagues.
Outlook changes
An intelligent system for predicting words and sentences will appear in the corporate Outlook mail service. It should allow you to reduce the number of errors and typos, as well as speed up your typing.
