Vladimir Putin lifted the self-isolation regime in Russia

In a new address to citizens, Vladimir Putin announced that the non-working period in Russia will end on May 12. However, regional leaders can extend the self-isolation regime if deemed necessary. He also reported the following:

• The increased safety mode remains for people over 65 years of age, as well as for people with chronic diseases.
• Mass events are still prohibited.
• From June 1, a one-time payment of 10 thousand rubles is provided for each child from 3 to 15 years old inclusive. This is a one-time payment, an application for which can be made remotely on the State Services portal.
• From May 12, the work of the basic sectors of the economy is restored - including communications, energy, agriculture, industry, construction.
• Self-employed citizens will receive back all income tax paid in 2019.
• The state will write off taxes and insurance premiums of small and medium-sized businesses, individual entrepreneurs and NGOs affected by the pandemic (excluding VAT).
• It is still necessary to comply with sanitary requirements: there is still a long way to go out of the epidemic.

• A new package of measures was adopted to support the Russian economy amid the crisis. Details have not yet been released.
• More than 6 non-working weeks gave their results: they allowed to slow down the spread of coronavirus and gave time to prepare the health care system to help critically ill patients.
• The epidemic situation in the regions varies significantly, so there is no talk of a single plan of action. The additional powers of the governors remain in place: they can continue to tighten or waive restrictions.
