SpaceX launched a simulator of docking to the ISS
News / / January 03, 2021
SpaceX has released online simulator Crew Dragon spacecraft docking with the International Space Station. It is available to everyone in any browser, even from a smartphone.
Two manipulators are available for docking, one of which allows you to adjust the position of the Crew Dragon in space, and the other helps to select the correct tilt. In the center, basic data is displayed: distance to the docking gate, axis deviations, rotation speed and other parameters.
As stated in the description, this simulator is the actual interface that astronauts use to dock manually.
The release of this online simulator is partly timed to coincide with Crew Dragon's imminent manned flight to the ISS - the mission is scheduled for May 27. In reality, the docking of the ship with the station will take place fully automatically, but manual control is also possible.
