Bloomberg edition reportsthat the long-awaited launch of Spotify in Russia and South Korea is delayed due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Initially plannedthat the Swedish music giant will kick off in Russia in the second quarter of this year. The streaming service had already rented work places for its employees in Moscow and was preparing the launch with might and main. Authoritative sources even named the cost of the subscription.
South Korea and Russia are considered priority destinations for Spotify. According to IFPI, the International Federation of Phonogram Producers, South Korea is the sixth largest music market in the world, while Russia is in the top 20.
Pandemic inflicted significant damage to the music industry, as opposed to video services like Netflix, whose capitalization jumped up. The fact is that most people listen to music on the go, on smartphones with headphones. Now, sitting at home, everyone prefers to watch videos, TV series and films, and forget about their favorite audio recordings.
