A new video has been released on the YouTube channel The Tech Chap. It compared the autonomy of the six main flagships of the first half of 2020 at once: Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, Huawei P40 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, OPPO Find X2 Pro, Pixel 4 XL and even recently released OnePlus 8 Pro.
Since each of these models runs on a different firmware (iPhone on iOS 13, Pixel 4 XL on Android 10, the rest - on proprietary firmware over Android 10), the author took care of the most equal conditions:
- disabled the automatic brightness setting, setting it strictly to 160 nits;
- did not use a SIM card;
- turned on Bluetooth, geolocation and Wi-Fi;
- set the maximum screen resolution and refresh rate (with automatic switching to optimal, where such an option was available);
- the volume is set to 50%;
- background app updates are disabled;
- all devices were rebooted before the test;
- each smartphone has been in use for less than a month.
Let us recall the characteristics of these devices:
iPhone 11 Pro Max | Galaxy S20 Ultra | Huawei P40 Pro | OnePlus 8 Pro | OPPO Find X2 Pro | Google Pixel 4 XL | |
screen, inches | 6,5 | 6,9 | 6,58 | 6,7 | 6,7 | 6,3 |
refresh rate, HZ | 60 | 120 | 90 | 120 | 120 | 90 |

battery, mAh | 3 696 | 5 000 | 4 200 | 4 510 | 4 260 | 3 700 |
Each smartphone was subjected to a load simulating normal daily tasks - watching videos on YouTube and TikTok, watching Instagram feeds, games, etc. As a result, the device with the largest battery of these six - Galaxy S20 - was the first to give up. Ultra. His result is 8 hours 20 minutes. The Pixel 4 XL lasted just 5 minutes longer.
Then the Chinese were sequentially disconnected: Huawei P40 Pro at 9:08, OPPO Find X2 Pro at 9:35 and OnePlus 8 Pro at 10:01, and the latter lasted almost half an hour at 1% charge. When all Android smartphones gave up, the iPhone still had 16% charge. They were enough for another hour and a half, and the iPhone turned off 11 hours and 30 minutes after the start of the experiment.
