The report of the 9to5Mac edition, which got its hands on part of the iOS 14 code, showedthat Apple is working on a feature codenamed Avocado. It ties into the Springboard application that controls the home screen in iOS.
According to the publication, this new feature is nothing more than full-fledged widgets for the iPhone and iPad desktop. Yes, in iPadOS 13, home screen widgets were already available to tablet users, but their position was fixed on the screen. The Avocado project assumes that widgets can be moved around the screen like a regular icon.
It may also hint at the long-awaited ability to freely place application icons on the desktop, but no direct confirmation was found in the code.

Of course, iOS 14 is not yet complete and Apple may delay the release of the feature to one of the next versions. However, the second feature, which is mentioned in the same report, hints that the developers plan to bring it to the final. In the standard wallpaper selection utility, we found the settings for the appearance of the picture: you can select not only the dark version of the standard wallpaper, but also the simplified gradient one. This makes sense, given that in addition to the usual icons on the screen, there will now be widgets and details in the background can be distracting.
Apple is due to show iOS 14 to developers in June - and the company already confirmedthat WWDC will be held online this year. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the dates of the conference may shift.
