The long-awaited release of Black Mesa, a fan project followed by Half-Life fans for over 10 years, has taken place. This is the first game of the legendary series, completely rebuilt on the engine from the second part, with improved graphics and its own soundtrack.
Note that technically Valve has already relaunched the first part on the Source engine - the remaster is called Half-Life: Sourse and was released in 2004. However, the developers were criticized for not using the capabilities of the modern engine and leaving all models, textures, sounds and animations the same. And it was this official version that pushed two teams of enthusiasts to make their version. The teams later merged, and the project decided to call Black Mesa: Source. Subsequently, the name of the engine was removed from the title.
Since 2015, Black Mesa has been available on Steam in Early Access. The final version consists of 19 chapters and offers 10-15 hours of single player play, there is multiplayer.
In Russia, the game costs 419 rubles, which is significantly lower than the international price of 19.99 dollars. It works not only on Windows but also on Linux.
Important: although the full version 1.0 is finally available, the developers discovered bug in multiplayer mode. Until a patch is released, the game's page will still indicate that it is in Early Access.
