Why you need to learn phone numbers if you want to improve memory

Memory Training Expert Jim Quick toldwhy stop trusting the phone book in your smartphone and start learning phone numbers again is a useful idea.
Quick argues that most people think of memory as a cup — when it’s full, it’s impossible to remember anything else. Jim calls this problem a "digital flood": our brains, which have not changed much in the last 200,000 years, seem overwhelmed by constantly evolving and improving technology.
How to deal with it
According to Jim, the brain itself is more like a muscle: it gets stronger when trained. The more often we learn, remember and remember things, the better we are given such tasks over time. Here's an easy exercise he offers to anyone looking to improve their memory:
Set aside half an hour once a week during which you turn off all notifications and, if possible, isolate yourself from unnecessary things. During this time, remember the phone number of one person with whom you often talk. Even this simple exercise will allow your brain to process and store more information.
If you have some free time, try this trick. Memorize the number, and after a few days check if you can remember it. If it fits in your head, you can proceed to the next one.
And no, 8-800-555-35-35 is not suitable: learn really useful numbers. This will come in handy if you suddenly find yourself without a phone.
