Almost 5 years have passed since the release of the iPhone 6s Plus, but it still receives iOS updates - and even today you can find it on the streets. But how much slower the 2015 hardware is than the top-end iPhone 11 Pro Max? This question was asked by a youtuber from the PhoneBuff channel.
Note that we used a brand new, freshly unpacked iPhone 6s Plus for comparison. This is important because hardware components degrade over time - and given the difference in release times, a comparison to the long-standing iPhone 6s would be unfair. Both smartphones run the latest iOS 13.3.1.
During an automated test, both devices had to open the same set of applications and perform simple actions: open a document, edit a photo, or just wait until the end downloads. Then the applications were reopened on the second circle - to check how much the phone can hold in memory. The old model showed itself worst of all when trying to open large documents in Word and Excel and working with video.
The author noted that for such an old smartphone, the iPhone 6s Plus performed surprisingly well and exceeded expectations. Of course, this did not help him get even close to the "older brother." If the iPhone 11 Pro Max finished the first lap in 1 minute and 45 seconds, and the second in 56 seconds, then the “six” took 2:46 only for the first stage. The second took him 1:56 - exactly one minute more than the new model.
