As part of an online presentation, Sony has unveiled the new flagship Xperia 1 II (read as Xperia 1 Mark II). It received an OLED display with a diagonal of 6.5 inches, an aspect ratio of 21: 9, 4K resolution, support for HDR and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. It is protected from damage by glass Gorilla Glass 6. The heart of the novelty is the 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 with 5G support. It is complemented by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. There is also a microSD card slot. Battery capacity - 4000 mAh, wireless charging is supported.
The main camera includes four sensors:
- 12 Mp main module with optical stabilization;
- wide-angle 12 MP;
- 12 Mp telephoto lens with optical stabilization and 3x zoom;
- ToF sensor.
For the first time, the flagship Sony received optics from ZEISS, which has long worked only with Nokia (HMD Global). In addition, the Xperia 1 II supports Imaging Edge, which allows you to connect your smartphone to Sony Alpha cameras for use as a remote control. The front camera of the smartphone is 8 megapixels.
Other features of the flagship include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, 3.5mm headphone jack, IP68 protection and the ability to directly connect DualShock 4 gamepads.
Sony Xperia 1 II Pro
If the basic model of the flagship is focused on the consumer market, then the Pro version is positioned as a solution for professional photographers and business. It features 5G mmWave support and a thicker plastic case. Compactness and aesthetics had to be sacrificed precisely to accommodate the new communication antennas.
Pricing for the Xperia 1 II has yet to be announced, as well as a launch date.
