Cybersecurity Specialists Help Net Security fixed a noticeable increase in the number of cyber attacks on systems running Windows 7. In 2020, their number increased by 2.25 times. At the same time, 93.6% of viruses were found to be unique for each PC - this is the highest rate in the history of observations.
The computers of private users are most susceptible to cyberattacks - 35% have received the virus at least three times, another 10% have encountered six or more cases of infection.
In the course of the study, the company analyzed 37 billion URLs, 842 million domain names, 4 billion IP addresses, and 31 million mobile applications. Experts named one of the most common threats phishing attacks - their number increased by 640%. Online scammers create fake versions of Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, Google, PayPal, and Dropbox websites to steal other people's data. Typically, attackers are interested in users' payment information.
As a reminder, on January 14, 2020 Microsoft stopped free Windows 7 support. System users no longer receive updates and security patches that protect against new critical vulnerabilities. This is what attackers use.
