Earlier this month, Microsoft released the final security patch for Windows 7, after which system support officially stopped. But users started to complain that the desktop wallpaper changed after the update. black screen - and the only alternative was to put a standard picture.
In an official statement from Microsoft acknowledged the problem and noted that it only occurs if the user has set the wallpaper in "Stretch" mode. When you select the "Crop" or "Fill" options, the image does not disappear even with the KB4534310 patch.
Surprisingly, the company has met its users halfway and will soon release a free update that will fix this error. Previously it was assumed that only those who paid for extended support for Windows 7 ESU would receive the patch. Now the update has been promised to all users of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
In 2019, Microsoft already released free updates for Windows XP - but then it was about a serious vulnerability to ransomware that could really hurt users. The wallpaper issue is obviously much less critical, but it's nice to see that the company is responding to audience demands.
It is not yet known exactly when the new patch will be released.
