Although displays with e-ink technology have appeared more and more in recent years, the technology itself has hardly developed during this time. But now that has changed: at CES 2020, Hisense, known primarily as a TV manufacturer, showed Color, a prototype smartphone with a color e-ink display, the first of its kind.
Hisense claims that the technology has been developed enough to be able to talk about mass production of such devices. In addition, they managed to achieve a higher refresh rate of the screen - the main problem of previous generations of such smartphones.
The characteristics of this concept background have not yet been revealed, but the design is similar to Hisense a5released last year with a monochrome screen. That model was a mid-range device - so you shouldn't expect top performance from a new product either. The cost and time of the release (if it will take place at all) is still unknown.
