Ingredients
- Frozen pitted cherries 500 g
- Starch 2 tsp spoons
- Sugar 150-200 g
- Walnuts 100 g
- Egg 1 piece
- Natural yogurt 1 tbsp the spoon
- Vegetable oil 4-5 tbsp. spoons + for lubrication
- Long thin lavash 1 piece
Cooking method
-
Defrost cherries at room temperature or in the microwave. Mix the starch with 2 tablespoons of juice from the berries.
You can use fresh cherries or sweet cherries. Then the starch must be mixed not with juice, but with water.
-
Put the cherries and juice in a saucepan. Add sugar and cook over medium heat until dissolved.
If the cherries are very sour, you can use more sugar.
Add the starch and, stirring, cook for about 5 minutes, until the juice thickens.
While the filling is cooling, chop the nuts finely.
Whisk in egg, yogurt and butter.
Cut the pita bread in half across. Line the long side with a strip of filling 2–3 cm from the edge. To the side edges, 3-4 cm should remain.
Sprinkle nuts on the berries. Grease the rest of this half of the pita bread with an egg mixture.
Place the sides of the pita bread over the cherry. Then, starting from the side with the berries, gently roll the pita bread into a roll.
Brush the other half of the pita bread with the egg mixture.
Carefully wrap the roll in pita bread in the same way as before wrapping the cherry.
Grease a baking sheet with oil and place the roll in there. Cover it with the egg mixture again.
Bake in an oven preheated to 180 ° C for about 15 minutes. The strudel should turn golden.
