Baked onion flower with cheese and crispy crust

An onion flower is ideal for a party and an alternative to the usual onion rings. And when baked in the oven, the snack will become more useful.
Peel the onion from the husk and film, removing them immediately with the first, hardest layer of pulp. After cleaning, both ends of the onion are carefully removed, taking care not to remove excess and keep all layers connected from below.
For cooking onion flowers in the oven, it is best to use medium-sized young vegetables.
Cut the peeled vegetable, passing it crosswise with a knife, leaving about a centimeter and a half to the base.
In order not to accidentally cut through the onion, prop it with the handles of wooden shovels on both sides.
The number of segments depends on the size of the bulb and your preference for the width of the petals. Carefully separate the resulting "petals" from each other, opening the "bud".
Make a batter with eggs, flour, salt and spices.
Place a thin slice of cheese between the rows of "petals". Here you should control your generosity and do not use too thick pieces so that the flower does not crack.
Now is the time to get dirty. First dip the onions filled with cheese in the batter, let the excess drain off, and then sprinkle everything with bread crumbs.
Bake flowers at 200 degrees for 25 minutes or until petals are soft.
Serve the onion flower hot with your favorite sauce.
