Citrus zest and juice will give your usual crumbly rice a new flavor. This side dish is perfect with meat and poultry. Try it!
Cut the onion into small pieces. Chop the garlic.
Heat the oil, brown the onion in it for about 5 minutes.
Add rice to the onion and cook for a few more minutes, until the grains are golden brown. Stir constantly.
Add zest and garlic, and after 30 seconds add lemon juice, broth, lavrushka and salt.
Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer over low heat until rice is tender. This will take about 15-17 minutes.
Remove the bay leaf and stir the rice before serving.
