It was this film that made Jackie Chan and his unique style famous. If Jackie Chan's films, albeit in a comedic form, adhere to the traditions of cinema about martial arts, then "Showdown in Kung Fu Style" is a frank parody per genre. Director and lead actor Stephen Chow had already become famous at that time thanks to the film "Killing Football". Here he turns to the crime theme, but again he does it in a fun and well-choreographed manner.
