how reports Collider, in a new episode of the Production Meeting podcast, actor Stephen Tobolowski, best known for his role as Ned Ryerson in Groundhog Day, revealed that he will return to the character in the new series. He did not share details about the plot or the structure of the project (although Netflix's Matryoshka Lives has already shown that time loops can be interestingly played in the series). It is not even known who this time will be in the center of the plot.
But the actor shared a story about how he was invited to a new project. One of the producers walked up to him while filming either Goldbergs or Old School and said, “Oh, hey Stephen! We are working on a TV series based on Groundhog Day. Would you like to play Ned again? " Tobolowski agreed - and in such a strange way ended up in the project.
Details about the possible release date, team and platform on which the new series will be released are not yet available - but considering that the Tobolowski was cast on the role of Ned almost 30 years after the film's release, we are unlikely waiting restart.
