There the hero decides to go fishing, but a very unexpected "catch" awaits him - the sea singer Leonor.

The owner of the pearl artel Pedro Zurita intends to hunt down and catch the mysterious "sea devil". The latter actually turns out to be a young man named Ichthyander, who, thanks to his fantastic abilities, can swim underwater. Once Ichthyander saves a drowning girl Gutiere from death. This fleeting encounter forever changes the life of an amphibian.
Many directors dreamed of filming the science-fiction novel by Alexander Belyaev, but the technical means of those years would not have allowed complex underwater filming. Nevertheless, the talented cameraman Eduard Rozovsky coped with this task. To do this, he had to come up with a number of devices. Among them were sealed underwater camera boxes and a special mesh lens attachment that “adds” live swimming fish to the frame.

3. the little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid falls in love with the prince, once rescued by her during a storm. In order to be with her beloved, the girl will have to sacrifice a lot: leave the sea kingdom forever and part with her beautiful hair.
The picture of the joint production of the USSR and Bulgaria based on the well-known fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen was released in 1976 and immediately won the audience's sympathy. The film does not exactly follow the plot of the original in everything: for example, the witch does not take the voice of the little mermaid, so the heroine retains the ability to speak.

When a young New Yorker named Allan Bauer gets into trouble, a beautiful stranger rescues him. Allan falls in love with a girl, not realizing that she is a mermaid and they have already met.
Director Ron Howard produced a very atypical romantic comedy imbued with the spirit of the 80s. The main role was played by a very young Tom Hanks. Prior to that, Michael Keaton, Chevy Chase, Dudley Moore, Bill Murray and John Travolta abandoned her. Hanks, on the other hand, played in his usual soft, romantic and ironic manner. Immediately after the release of the film on the screens, the career of the actor, who had previously been filmed only in low-budget projects, took off sharply.

Single mother Rachel Flax often changes boyfriends, which makes her devout older daughter Charlotte very upset. Because of this, constant disagreements arise between relatives. However, everything changes when Rachel has a new fan named Lou.
Although in the film directed by Richard Benjamin there are no sea maidens in the literal sense (one of the heroines only disguises as a mermaid), he perfectly reveals a difficult topic growing up and responsibility. And there is also a great cast: singer Cher, Bob Hoskins, Winona Ryder and Christina Ricci, for whom this role became a debut in a big movie.
6. Undine

Once a lone fisherman Syracuse finds an unusual girl in the nets who does not remember anything about her past. Meanwhile, the hero's daughter Annie is sure that the stranger is a real mermaid and brings good luck and happiness.
The director of the famous film Interview with the Vampire, Neil Jordan, once again makes the mythological amazing creature the center of the story. Also, the picture is worth attention because of the leading actor - a charismatic Colin Farrell.

The very bizarre and bizarre Polish horror comedy Daughters of the Dance was conceived as a darker and more unbridled version of The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. And at least visually, the work of novice director Agnieszka Smoczynski can be considered quite successful.

Oscar-winning Guillermo del Toro's "The Shape of Water" has received almost unanimous critical acclaim. This tape tells that pure and true love is able to resist any evil. Even if sometimes it takes not the most familiar forms.
