Where to stay in Saratov
If we talk about geography, it is definitely necessary to settle in the center. So most of the attractions will be within walking distance from you. The center is traditionally considered to be a site bounded from different sides by the Volga, Senniy market, railway station and city park. If you want to choose more precisely, focus on Kirov Avenue.
If you don't want to spend a fortune on living, pay attention to guest houses or apartments for rent. For 1.5-2.5 thousand rubles per day, you can find quite decent options for Booking. If you are not constrained in money, take a look at the hotels "Pearl», «Pioneer Lux», «Bohemia». Here you have to pay 4-5 thousand per night.
What sights of Saratov to see
Bridge over the Volga
This is a bridge across the Volgograd reservoir, which connects Saratov and the neighboring Engels, located on the other side. (If you suddenly wondered if there is a city of Marx somewhere nearby, then yes - 52 kilometers from Engels). At the time of its opening in 1965, the Saratov bridge was the longest in Europe. Its length is 2,825 meters. The building still looks pretty nice. And if you were once interested in Saratov, then remember exactly this object - one of the most common postcard types.
There are footpaths on both sides of the bridge. So you can walk along it to Engels or to the municipal beach "City Sands". The latter is located on an island almost in the middle of the river. If you go deep into the beach, you can get to nudist part of it.
Cosmonauts embankment
The name of the street, stretching along the Volga, was given in 1962 in honor of the landing of Yuri Gagarin. On the whole, they love the first cosmonaut in Saratov and in every way emphasize his connection with the city. For example, a new airport is also named after him. This is no coincidence. Young Gagarin studied at the Saratov Industrial College and at the same time studied at the local flying club. After his famous flight to space Yuri also landed in the Saratov region.
The Cosmonauts Embankment is conventionally divided into old and new. The first is a multi-tiered one, built in the middle of the 20th century. Despite careful attempts to patch her, she is not in the most satisfactory condition, but still looks beautiful. A beautiful view of the Volga and the famous bridge opens from here.
They began to extend the embankment already in the 21st century. The historical territory, together with its continuation, forms an area of more or less flat asphalt, which is not so common in the city. Therefore, the embankment was chosen by rollers, cyclists, skaters. They come here with their inventory or rent it.
An additional bonus of the embankment is the opportunity to admire the surroundings from a tourist boat. During the day it's just a sentry boat trip down the Volga, in the evening - a disco with old-school Russian songs. A ticket for an adult will cost 400 rubles, there are discounts for children, students, flyer owners.
Victory Park
The park is located on Sokolovaya Gora, and there are several objects at once that deserve attention. First, there is a large exposition of military and agricultural equipment, including samples from the times of the Great Patriotic War. Tanks, harvesters, aircraft are located in the open air. Previously, it was possible to climb on them, but then the shop was closed. However, it is still interesting to see the exhibits. There is also a memorial complex "Cranes", inspired by the famous song of Rasul Gamzatov about soldiersturned into these birds.
Secondly, it is the National Village. Here are the farmsteads of the peoples living in the region. Thirdly, local observation platforms offer a good view of the city.
City Park of Culture and Rest
Address: st. Chernyshevsky, d. 81/83.
The park was founded at the beginning of the 19th century as a space around the dacha of the Saratov governor Alexei Panchulidzev. Planting oak trees, redevelopment of alleys, a system of ravines with cold springs were carried out by the French, captured during the war of 1812.
Then the site changed hands many times. But 500 two-century oak trees and a cascade of ponds remained. Now the park is inhabited by tame and sometimes very insolent squirrels, shy ducks and swans. Cupids live in the ponds, these fish of impressive size can be seen on clear days. There is also an amusement park with a Ferris wheel, the view from which has been somewhat spoiled in recent years by the construction of high-rise buildings around. You can also rent a boat and look at landscapes from the water.
Kirov Avenue and Volzhskaya Street
The avenue is also popularly called Kirovsky, and it is the main pedestrian street of the city. Not so long ago, the section for strollers was extended at the expense of Volzhskaya Street, so now you can freely go down to the embankment.
There are quite a few sights, in particular, merchant buildings of the 19th century. In general, there are many merchant buildings in Saratov, but at least they are trying to keep them in good condition on the avenue. Although not everything is going smoothly with this eitherThe crumbling hotel "Russia" barricaded with plates.
The Saratov Conservatory named after L. IN. Sobinova is the third in Russia. You can get there for a student concert, and with a high degree of probability it will be good. Next to the conservatory is the Lipki park, one of the oldest in Saratov. And on the route you will find many monuments: the Saratov accordion, the Gorodovoy and single guys from the song “There are so many golden lights”, to whom they preferred a married one.
