Who carries the weekend and why
In Russia establishedLabor Code of the Russian Federation, article 112. Non-working holidays 14 non-working holidays:
- January 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 - New Year's holidays;
- January 7 - Christmas;
- February 23 - Defender of the Fatherland Day;
- March 8 - International Women's Day;
- May 1 - Spring and Labor Day;
- May 9 - Victory Day;
- June 12 - Day of Russia;
- November 4 - National Unity Day.
By law, if holiday falls on Saturday or Sunday, the day off from that day is transferred to the next working day. An exception is made for the New Year and Christmas holidays. The government of the Russian Federation distributes the days off from these days at its discretion.
Rest days often fill the uncomfortable voids between holidays and weekends. For example, if November 4 is Thursday, it is logical to make Friday November 5 a day off so that Russians can plan an extra four-day vacation.
