How to prepare pollock
If the fish is whole, it must be cut up. Rinse the carcass first. Remove the head, scales, tail, fins, and entrails. Rinse the fish again.
Frozen pollock must be defrosted first.
Cut the fish across into portions. Or separate filletwalking with a knife along the ridge.
How much to cook pollock
Depending on the cooking method, the pollock will be ready in 10-25 minutes. The size of the fish also affects the time: the smaller it is, the faster it will cook. The minutes below are for medium, not too small pieces.
The flesh of the finished pollock should be light, and if there are bones, it should easily come off them.
What to add to pollock
If you boil fish in water
To one fish it is enough to add about 1 teaspoon of salt, a pinch of ground black pepper or a few peas and 1-2 dried bay leaves. Although it is better to adjust the amount of spices to your taste.
Other seasonings can be added to the water for aroma, as well as a small onion and carrots.
If you are steaming fish
Rub the pollock with salt. For one fish, ยนโโ teaspoon is enough, but it's better to be guided by your taste. Together with salt, you can take other spices: ground black pepper, coriander, dried herbs or ready-made
seasoning for fish.A little fresh parsley, umbrellas or dill are sometimes placed on the bottom of a steaming container or on pollock. You can also sprinkle some of the fish with lemon juice and put 1โ2 dried bay leaves in the water. All this will give the dish a pleasant aroma.
How to cook pollock on the stove
In water
Place the pollock in a saucepan and cover with water. The liquid should be higher than the fish. Bring to a boil over high heat.
Add seasoning. If using carrots and onions, add them directly with the fish. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 10 minutes.
For a couple
Boil water in a saucepan. Place a steaming container on top. It should not touch the liquid.
Put the fish in there and cook for 20 minutes over medium heat, covered.
How to cook pollock in a slow cooker
In a slow cooker, fish is usually steamed.
Pour 2 cups of boiling water into the bowl of the appliance. Install a special container on top. Put the fish in there and close multicooker.
Cook the pollock on Steam for 25 minutes.
