Why you can't glue your MacBook webcam

Users who want to protect themselves from possible surveillance have long taken the habit of covering the laptop's webcam with some kind of film or a special curtain (so does even Mark Zuckerberg). However, such protection can damage your laptop. Anyway, this is true for the MacBook. A corresponding warning about this appeared on website Apple.
A posting on the website states that electrical tape or curtain minimizes the distance between the laptop lid and its body, therefore, when closing, additional pressure may be created on the area in the upper part display. This could damage the screen. Apparently, there have already been precedents.
Apple also noted that the MacBook's built-in FaceTime HD camera has a dedicated capture light. The camera cannot be used if the indicator is not active, so there is simply no special need for curtains - you will already see if your camera suddenly turns on. In addition, you can always check access to shooting for various applications through the system settings.
