Earlier this week, Lifehacker asked readers, what characters in films and TV shows annoy you - and it doesn't matter if it is justified by the plot or not. Collected the most popular answers.
1. Jonas Kanwald ("Darkness")
These are, in fact, three different heroes, each of which managed to piss off the viewer in his own way. One annoyed with his indecision, the second with inaction and stupidity, and the third with stubbornness and unjustified cruelty. This trio successfully ruffled everyone's nerves throughout the 26 episodes. Fortunately, everyone had the same ending.
2. Dolores Umbridge ("Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1")
Imelda Staunton delightfully played a character who, to many fans of the series, seems more annoying and hateful than Voldemort. The reasons for this are obvious - a combination of love for everything pink and sweet with endless cruelty, and even hiding behind virtue, makes it more repulsive than villains who are just cruel and do not hide this.
3. Nastenka ("Morozko")
This fairy tale film was incredibly popular at one time - it was difficult to find a person who had not seen it. However, now, in the days of feminism and many examples of strong women before our eyes, it is difficult to empathize with Nastenka. The heroine embodies the image of a submissive fate of a quiet woman who is not ready to fight not only for her own happiness, but at least for your life - which in modern women quite rightly causes only irritation.
4. Skyler White (Breaking Bad)
Walter White's wife certainly has every reason to lose control when she realizes that her husband, from whom she is a second pregnant, has cancer. And even more - when he finds out what he decided to do in the last months of his life. Nevertheless, viewers who empathize with the main character cannot see justice in her reproaches and tantrums and consider her a bitch, ignoring all the circumstances. It even gave its name to the "Skyler White Effect," which describes such a cognitive distortion in character perception. It is the wives of the main characters that most often fall under this effect.
5. Libya Sopranos ("The Sopranos")
Tony's relationship with his mother as a child was terrible - right up to threats to gouge his son's eyes with a fork - so it is not surprising that the audience is enraged by a woman who treated the main character this way.
6. Janice Sopranos ("The Sopranos")
Next - another representative of this not the most pleasant family. But even by the standards of the Sopranos, Janice breaks all records, being the maximum selfish, able to care only about her comfort and well-being.
7. Joffrey Baratheon (Game of Thrones)
It's amazing how one character can embody as many cruelties and vices as Joffrey. And Jack Gleeson performed this role so well that he personally received many threats from fans of the series. Due to this amount of attention to himself, he even planned to end his career as an actor.
8. Aunt Lydia (The Handmaid's Tale)
This woman is the embodiment of the classic overseer, cruel and cold-blooded. She blindly honored the values of the new society and severely punished all who opposed them. She is hated for her broken eyes and crippled fate even more than the stubborn main character. The role of Lydia's aunt was superbly played by Ann Dowd.
Bonus: Any role played by Nicolas Cage
It just so happened that Nick Cage in the movies either love or hate. And for the latter, neither the character he plays nor the script often matters.
