Tilda is a textile doll in a beautiful outfit with elongated limbs, small eyes and ruddy cheeks. Tilda is conceived not as a child's toy, but as an interior decoration. It is popular all over the world, and making it yourself is not so difficult.
What you need to create a Tilda doll
To sew a Tilda doll, you need a pattern. They can be easily found on the Internet. For example, for the doll in the photo above, like this. Simply print the template on paper.
Tilda is usually sewn from cotton or linen fabric. Mostly beige. The threads should be of a suitable shade. Details are easier to sew on a typewriter, but you can also do it manually.
Synthetic fluff, holofiber, synthetic winterizer or cotton wool are often used as a filler. There are also non-standard packing options: salt, cereals, sand. They are used if the doll needs to be stabilized.
To make hair, you need wool for felting and a special needle. You can also make a hairstyle from yarn. For the eyes you need a black outline on the fabric or acrylic paint, and for the cheeks - pink blush, pastel or acrylic paint.
You can sew clothes for a doll from any fabric. You may need decorative braid, ribbons, beads, buttons, or something else for decoration - it depends on your imagination.

How to sew a Tilda doll with your own hands
The workpiece made according to this instruction is universal. Make it and dress up the doll as you like.
Cut out templates for the torso and head, arms and legs. Fold the fabric in half, right side inward. For security, secure it around the edges with pins. Circle the cutouts. You will need two handles and legs.
Without cutting out the details, sew the fabric along the marked lines. Leave the places where there was a dotted line on the template unstitched. After that, cut out the parts, slightly stepping back from the seams.
Turn the parts right out. To facilitate this work, insert a tube into the hole, and from the other end - the tip of a wooden stick. Unscrew the part carefully so that it is on the stick.
Fill the parts tightly with filler, pushing through with a stick. Reduce packing density closer to the holes as there will be seams in these areas. Please note that the seams on the torso should be in the middle, not on the sides.
On the legs, mark the knees by making horizontal seams in the middle.
Insert the tops of the legs into the torso, secure with pins for convenience, and sew.
Place your hands on the sides of the doll's neck so that the fabric wraps around the workpiece. Then sew them to the torso.
How to style a Tilda doll
Separate from wool for felting a small part and attach the middle to the center of the doll's head. Using a special needle, pierce the wool many times along the parting line. Hair should be well attached to the head.
After that, give the doll a hairstyle, such as braids. Cut off excess wool at their ends.
Thick yarn can be used instead of wool. To do this, cut many of the same lengths of yarn, sew them in the middle along the parting, and do your hair.
Draw eyes with black paint - small dots. If you don't have a fabric outline, use acrylic paint to dot with a ball on the end of a pin or other thin object.
Paint the cheeks with regular blush, pastel or acrylic paint. If using pastels, chop it up with a knife and dip the brush into it. The paint must be rubbed with a dry brush on a piece of cardboard or paper, and then applied to the fabric.
The mouth of the classic Tildam is not painted.
