In the cartoon "Forward", Which will be released in Russian cinemas on March 5, for the first time among the works of Pixar and Disney showed an open character of homosexual orientation - a cyclops police officer named Spectrum. Although this is a minor character that only appears in one scene, early critics noted that this is a great achievement for representing the LGBT + community.
In the Russian version of the cartoon, when the Spectrum talks about his girlfriend and daughter, instead of the word "girl", a gender-neutral "partner" is used. About it told "Kinopoisk" in the official blog with a link to viewers who managed to get to the previews. Disney representatives declined to comment.
At the same time, viewers abroad do not agree that the Spectrum has become exactly first a non-hetero character in Disney and Pixar cartoons. They refer to scenes in Finding Dory and Toy Story 4 that featured supposedly lesbian couples - however, these are completely background characters and the fact that they are a couple is not confirmed by the creators or in the dialogues.
