Alena Dorokhina
It publishes a magazine about travel, "Forty-two." He worked as art director in a movie. Studying screenwriting business. By profession, cultural studies, designs, creation of interfaces. Her dream is to have time to live several lives.
What do you do in your work?
Ten years studying design, media art and contemporary art. Taught. Inventing interfaces. In 2014 he opened his publishing: produce an online magazine about travelers 42mag.ru, And soon will come offline with guides and special projects for active lifestyles.
What is your occupation?
I am a cultural studies. Higher education was given to me difficult. Changed several universities (from psihfak MSU and graphic design "British women" to the unfinished graduate of the Institute of Art). Starting from 17 years constantly studying somewhere and is always combined with the work. By the age of 35 I get another specialty.
I like the concept of the mobile professional - every 7-10 years to change professions, to start from scratch. Constantly update itself, not to be a guru, be those who are open and clean. The only way to maintain an interest in life. Too many people around that 30-40 years die inside: they have no passion for work, no taste to anything whatsoever.
In 17-20 years we all learn aimlessly. And you need to learn to learn. It is a pity that it does not tell us in school.
Designers are advised to subscribe to Dima Karpov, editors - on the advanced course Maxim Ilyahova. If something good and new appears, they talk about it. The rest is constantly looking for new areas in their profession, and be sure to do their projects. This growth begins with the opening of the business.
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
I'm interested in everything, I want everything - and get everything for which I undertake. Therefore, it is difficult to choose one direction. Limit yourself, set goals at 30 and 100 days, so as not to throw away.
I can get away for a month to work with your head and not be distracted at all for anything - obstinacy, perseverance, persistence will be enough. But it is a sprint. For long distance (longer than a year projects), I still need to learn to properly distribute the forces and motivation.
I am inspired by uncertainty, chaos, lack of clarity.
A couple of times in his life he worked in the office, the rest of the world went on, working remotely, and then opened his business. Independence turns categorically and complex character.
How does your workplace?
The house has a table, light room and a big screen, but over the years used to travel to work on the small MacBook Pro.
On the balcony - bar: the day there sit comfortably with a laptop, sun and fresh air, views of the courtyard.
I like to work on the road - in the Aeroexpress train or the plane. In Moscow, I go to the library and sit in the cafe stopped: tasteless and expensive.
With me always a tablet of paper, a lot of pens (too much). Earlier I took and Canon interchangeable lenses, but now I drive the iPhone only.
On the desktop - only paper and pens, notebook. On the screen - a gray desktop with no icons and screensavers. On the laptop no information is stored - all files in Dropbox only (one terabyte is enough for me).
In entering a few letters from me - it is the task for the day and the week, everything else automatically expanded into folders. I reply to mail once a day, and mobile e-mail client removed. This is a step to peace after years of chaotic life with instant notifications and attempt all the time everywhere.
iPhone use as a search engine, camera, diary and player in the car. Rarely call, the sound is usually turned off for all callers, except for one person.
of irreplaceable on the phone:
- notebook Day One;
- VSCO Cam - for photographs;
- MAPS.ME - for offline navigation;
- Foursquare - instead of the guides;
- Wunderground - for the weather;
- "Yandex. Vehicles "- for buses;
- Toshl Finance Pro - for accounting finance.
Each month, 40-50 downloading new applications - to test, see Interfaces. But usually everything is removed.
among the favorite Web services: Dropbox, Hackpad, Gmail, Amplifr, Tilda.
BY: Slack, Adobe, iA Writer, 1Password.
Is there a place in your paper work?
Always print out articles workers that require editing, to make notes in the margins.
I love paper books, too, and constantly make them write. Thoughts try as it is on paper, you can usually write - it soothes and inspires.
What is in your bag?
I do not like the bag and try to do without them.
If necessary, take the clutch for cards, keys, phone and lipstick. Travel - ladies' bag for carry-on baggage, where a laptop and a few dresses fit. The fewer things better (minimalist FAQ).
How do you organize your time?
I tried dozens of time-management techniques, and made his own. To plan using mail and the letter itself with titles and labels, tasks, directions (there and work projects, and home and health). Usually this is the problem for a week. I have not been solved in a week - to delete a letter, changing tasks or delegate. Large projects I have now two long-term plans to keep him in the head.
It works well Pomodoro techniqueBecause it helps to start. I try to divide tasks for most small - it's faster for them you take.
What's your daily routine?
I'm a night owl, but a perfect day - a rise of up to six in the morning and go to bed until ten at night. It does not always work, but every day I try. In recent days, my perfect morning - it's yoga at 7:00, at 9:00 study, and after already written and working practices.
Alas, any social activity forced to stay up late. So now I avoid parties: it is better to go home, to work, to take a bath and go to bed on time.
How to pass the time in traffic jams?
If you have a laptop, writing, working, reading books.
If not, I write out on paper ideas for work or study, look out the window, remember massage techniques. iPhone try not to touch to wean themselves from the frequent checking of news, to rest your eyes and see the world around them.
What's your hobby?
I travel a lot and love to go on the road, even if it's neighboring city.
Recently, I play every Sunday with his team in the laser tag (you can join).
I'm happy when I manage to gather friends and family and everyone is happy.
Again I started to practice yoga, and soon received a certificate in medical massage. I am studying the body practices, nutritionist and art of healthy living. I love mountain hiking, active tourism and trekking. I hope as soon as possible to return to Everest.
